Meta analysis’ are often considered the gold standard for studies; a single study is never conclusive due to potential errors in design or data, whereas when results from many studies are systematically analyzed, they can be. Here is a YouTube series that goes through what they are, what they can be used for, and how to do one.

Some notes:

  • Combining data allows for more accurate prediction of results of strength.
  • By combining studies, and seeing the differences between them, it is possible to identify potential moderators. An example used is that of language, when two studies get different results, but set in different language settings, language may be a moderator that explains the difference.
  • Examining past studies through a meta analysis, can help show the needed sample for a new study
